For those of use with fantasies about Michael Moore blowing up

MOVIE REVIEW: Team America: World Police
Up and coming Broadway actor Gary Johnston is recruited to join the elite force, Team America. His job: act like a terrorist in order to infiltrate a terrorist organization. To make a long story short, stuff blows up, Gary falls in love, Kim Jong Il feeds Hans Blix to some sharks, a bunch of lefty Hollywood celebrities get involved, and stuff (including Michael Moore) blows up. All of this is done with Marionettes.

This movie is first and foremost a parody of Hollywood action films. Sometimes the parody is implicit, with over the top action and monuments blowing up. Sometimes it is explicit, with lines such as "Basically all the worst parts of the bible" from Armageddon and a love song about Pearl Harbor ("I guess Pearl Harbor sucked, Just a little bit more than I miss you."). The songs in the movie are all good, but vulgar. In fact, the whole movie is pretty vulgar. The movie feature lots of swearing and sex jokes, bloody violence, and puppet sex. The movie is also very funny, though like most comedies there is some dead space.

As for the politics, it's not as political as has been reported. The movie doesn't attack the war on terror, instead focusing on peace loving celebrities. If there is a moral of the story it would be Yeah, war sucks, but you have to do it anyway. Three Stars, if you like South Park you’ll like this.
